Over fifty years ago, the Thorbj\u00f6rnsen family founded JSL, anticipating a growing demand for electrical materials in the national market.<\/span><\/p>\n

Initially, the company produced electrical plugs and sockets for household use, as well as lighting equipment on a small scale in the 1960s. By the end of the decade, JSL had established its first factory and developed new product lines, especially for low voltage electrical installations.<\/span><\/p>\n

While initially focused on the national market and ex-colonies, JSL recognized the opportunities presented by Portugal’s entry into the European Union in the 1980s.
