Riser and Meter Boxes: The Central Axis of Building Distribution

In a multi-dwelling building or commercial complex, electrical energy needs to travel from the public grid delivery point (at the ground floor or basement) to the individual electrical panel of each unit (apartment or shop). The vertical path that the energy follows is ensured by the riser infrastructure. For this distribution to be carried out with maximum safety, reliability, and full compliance with the strict regulations in force, the use of highly engineered technical boxes is absolutely essential.

Riser Boxes: The Distribution “Node” on Each Floor

Riser boxes act as the derivation points on each floor of the building. Their role is to safely house the distribution busbars and protection devices (such as isolators and fuses), allowing the energy to be branched from the main riser to the units on that floor.

We know that the space inside building service ducts is often tight. That is why our boxes have been designed with the installer in mind:

  • Optimized Interior Space: They provide the necessary clearance to bend and handle large cross-section conductors, facilitating the safe execution of mechanical terminations.

  • Accessibility and Isolation: They feature robust mounting plates and secure closure systems that restrict access to authorized technical personnel only, preventing unauthorized tampering in the common areas of the building.

Meter Boxes: Boundary and Protection

In parallel, meter boxes play an extremely important role, as they house the equipment that meters energy consumption. These boxes are specifically designed to meet the dimensional and technical requirements of energy distribution entities in Portugal (such as E-Redes).

These solutions guarantee the mechanical protection of the meter against dust, humidity, or tampering attempts, while their design with transparent windows allows for easy reading and quick access for maintenance operations by the network operator.

Fire Safety and Durability

Once installed, these infrastructures become a permanent part of the building. Our boxes are manufactured from premium-quality thermoplastic materials, standing out for their impact resistance (high IK ratings). Above all, they are self-extinguishing and halogen-free. This means that, in an extreme scenario of a short circuit or cable overheating, they do not propagate flames or emit toxic fumes, safeguarding the evacuation routes for residents.
